This enchanting ballet set in mid-nineteenth century France, tells the story of a Shopkeeper who creates "life-sized dolls." During the day, the Shopkeeper and his assistants prepare the shop for such customers as a pair of English Ladies, an American family and a Russian Ambassador's family. The Shopkeeper presents several of his dolls for purchase including the Queen of Hearts, the Music Box Ballerina and two of his prized dolls, the Can-Can couple, who are very much in love. Unfortunately, the Can-Can couple is separated when the American and Russian families each buy one of the dolls. That night, while the two dolls are encased in their holiday boxes, the other dolls set about to plot their release. What happens next is both humorous and poignant.
This ballet is G rated and a joy for children of all ages.
